The Dongxiang people are an ethnic group closely related to the Mongolians. They form one of the 56 ethnic groups officially recognized by the People's Republic of China.

Most of the Dongxiang live in the Linxia Hui Autonomous Prefecture, and surrounding areas, of Gansu Province in northwestern China. Their language, also referred to as Dongxiang, is one of the Mongolian Altaic languages. According to the 2000 census, their populaion numbers 513,805. Dongxiang
