Selection silvicultural system
:
a silviculturalsystem that removes mature timber either as single scattered individuals or in smallgroups at relatively short intervals, repeated indefinitely, where the continualestablishment of regeneration is encouraged and an uneven-aged stand is maintained. Asdefined in the Forest Practices Code of British Columbia Operation Planning Regulation,group selection removes trees to create openings in a stand less than twice the height ofmature trees in the stand.
