Rain-on-snow events glossary and government resources

Rain-on-snow events : rainstorms that result in large amounts of surface runoff due to thecombined effects of heavy rainfall and snow melt. Rapid snow melt is caused by heatsupplied from the warm air that is characteristic of intense rainstorms and by heatreleased during condensation of moisture from the air onto the snow surface.
